4 Months Old

Let's see, where to begin?  Well, we haven't had too much going on lately, but we have been busy.  We went up to North LA weekend before last and then last weekend was spent doing stuff in the yard/prepping to do stuff in the yard.  We're so excited that the weather seems to finally be warming up, even if it means it's time to do yard work again -- going to Lowe's to buy the stuff to re-do our flower beds, actually re-doing the flower beds (this was 95% Scotty; I was taking David Scott to have his Easter pics made); going back to Lowe's to buy additional bags of mulch to finish up the job.  Let's see...what else???  It seems like there's always something we need from the store or some place we need to go; life is just exhausting at times.  Fortunately for us, David Scott is very easily able to acclimate himself to new/different surroundings.

David Scott, you:
  • Weigh 13 lbs., 14 oz.
  • Are 24.5" long
  • Are constantly putting your hands in your mouth.  We literally cannot keep them out.  You're sucking on your hands more than your paci these days. You haven't quite figured out yet that you can put the paci back in your mouth, but boy can you pull it out and toss it across the room!
  • Just last week started playing in your jumping thing.  I have no doubt that once your feet can touch the floor, you'll be bouncing/jumping like crazy.  You're so active and alert when you are awake.
  • Sleep for about 4-5 hours during the day and have been waking up around 3-ish each morning for a little snack.  I think you've slept through the night once since my last mention of that event.  (I KNEW I shouldn't have shared that on the blog -- putting it in writing jinxed me!)
  • Just started eating rice cereal on Sunday night.  You are actually eating it better than I expected you to being that this was the first time you've experienced a spoon going into your mouth.
  • Are wearing a Size 2 diaper
  • Have a few little spots of eczema on your back.  Dr. K said you'll probably have allergies, but that it shouldn't be too bad since you seemed to be so active.  But, hey, we do live in LA and everybody has allergies.
  • Smile ALL THE TIME!  Everybody remarks at what a happy baby you are.  And they're right, nothing seems to really bother you.  You're just a happy-go-lucky little guy and I hope you stay that way.
  • Can wear size 3-6 months in your clothes and a couple of outfits that are size 6 months.
Little Man!

This is what Lola was doing while I was trying to take DS' 4-month old pics.

I'll do it then...

I've been meaning to do a post for a week or so now, and I kept putting it off -- Well, David Scott will be 4 months old on Thursday and his doctor's appt. is on Friday, so I'll do it then. And then, we have Easter photos on Saturday, so I'll do it then. And finally, since his doctor's appointment from Friday apparently did not exist in their calendar (although I had an appointment card for the 19th of March) so now we have to go back on Monday, I'll just do it then. So, to tide you over for the official 4-Month Old post, here are a few photos from this past week.

More and More...

With each day, it seems like David Scott is doing more than the day before.  Either he's awake more, or he's "talking" more, or he seems to be content "playing" more.  It's so great to watch him transition from a blob that did nothing but eat, sleep and poop for the first couple of months into a little person who interacts with us and those surrounding us.

Mama (aka Grandmother/Gran) and Rachel (aka Auntie Boo) came in for a visit this past weekend.  We went shopping and out to eat, but we also hung out around the house some.  While we were out in public, David Scott was great.  He wasn't too fussy and we really didn't have to leave anywhere due to him having a meltdown.  Adults 1; David Scott 0.  Then, this morning, after he woke up and I fed him, Auntie Boo and Gran took DS into the living room so I could sleep a little longer. Two hours later, I awoke to the sound of a trio of voices in the living room: David Scott was having a lively conversation with his aunt and grandmother. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I know that they did too as they were both DYING to see him since it had been over a month since they saw him last.

Speaking of sleeping, ever since DS got the RSV diagnosis, he's been sleeping with us.  Or, I guess I should say that he's been sleeping in our bed with me (while Scotty slept on the couch), or David Scott and I would sleep on the couch and let Scotty sleep in the bed.  Not the most comfortable of sleeping arrangements, but I wanted to be sure he was breathing properly and elevated well, so what better way to do so than to let him sleep either beside me or on top of me.  Well, needless to say, the word exhausted is an understatement for how I've been feeling, so we decided to finally let him sleep in his crib in his own room.  We started doing this last week and it's been going pretty well.  He went from waking up twice during the night most nights, to waking up about 3 or 3:30 like he did before he got sick (he's still a little congested and has a snotty nose, but is doing much, much better, by the way).  And, I'm probably cursing myself by putting this in writing, but I've already said it several times today so I might as well:  DS slept through the night last night!  A couple of times before,  he's slept til about 5, but this morning, he slept until 6:30 -- when he normally eats breakfast.  Woohoo!

That's really all that's been going on with us.  Here are a few pictures of David Scott playing and just being cute:
