Week 12...

Although there's not much going on, I decided it was time to update the blog anyway. My best friend from childhood (Jessie Stevens Hamby) is in labor right now, so I'm sure she'll have much fresh wisdom to pass along that most of the other mothers in my life may have forgotten/repressed! I know Jessie and Rett, but especially Jessie, are ready to get this show on the road and meet Baby Olivia. I, too, can't wait to meet her.

I was hesitant to buy anything for Baby Rain until the pregnancy progressed further. However, as soon as I saw this baby-tee, I had to have it. It's a white unisex t-shirt that says, "Peace, Love, and The Tigers" underneath a peace sign, heart, and paw print -- all in purple, natch. Lucky me, I was shopping at a client's store here in BR (Head Over Heels -- a shoe boutique) and when my client realized the shirt was for me, she wouldn't let me pay for it. So, technically, I still haven't bought anything specifically for Baby Rain and I guess you could consider that our first baby gift. I'll try to post a pic as soon as I figure out how to do so. A sidebar to my diehard Tech fans/friends/family members -- South LA doesn't know LA Tech exists, so anything LA Tech-related will have to come from North LA. There is literally nothing down here that is red or blue...

I still don't really look pregnant. Rather, I look like I just ate a good meal most of the time. Rachel posed the question last weekend at our cousin's wedding, "Do you think people look at you and think 'She's pregnant' or 'Do you think she's just fat?'" Thanks, Boo. :) Speaking of last weekend, we boarded Lola at the vet while we went out of town. We're unsure how Lola is going to accept this baby since she generally despises strangers and children. So I was encouraged when the gal at the vet's office told me that Lola had "taken" to one of the assistants and that she's getting better and better each time she goes whether it's for the day or a weekend. I'm holding out an enormous amount of hope that Lola (aka The Bean) will accept, love, and worship Baby Rain as much as she does her Mama! And I don't expect that to happen in a day, but it would be nice if Lo has an instantaneous love for the baby.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let the cravings begin! Chips and salsa, Chewy Chips-Ahoy Cookies, Veggies from Picadilly -- it all sounds good. Just this afternoon, I wanted olives, a fudgecicle, and strawberries -- not at the same time, but within about 15 minutes of finishing one another. It was delish! I went to the store earlier and loaded up on fruits and veggies in hopes that my cravings will be for healthy foods and not just junk. I want Baby Rain to be a "good eater" and like most anything that's put in front of him or her.
